Nahuala daily huipil.

This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back-strap loom in two well balanced, warp-striped cotton panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The blue base thread is dyed with indigo. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade in cotton and rayon (to mimic silk). The principal motif is “zoomorphic”, perhaps a rooster with teeth. This very fine example is in excellent condition. From Ana Carolina Ajanel of Chichicastenango at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. W 80 x L 67 cm. (15-263) $ 120. OBO
