Nahualá ceremonial huipil.

This circa-1980 huipil is in the ceremonial style, three panel construction that features a double-headed eagle as the central motif. This example was hand woven on a back strap loom in white cotton panels decorated with supplementary brocade in cotton and rayon. The cener panel is wider and more heavily decorated. Typical of older Nahuala huipils, the red brocade has bled on to the white base, an intentional design feature. To some degree the stain can be removed. This fine example is in very good condition. It was collected from Sras. Ema and Carmen Tepeu of San Pedro Sacatepequez (G) at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. W 82 x L 69 cm. (10-56) Was $120. Now $95 OBO.
