Nahuala ceremonial huipil. W78 x L125 cm opened. This post-1980 huipil is believed to be ceremonial because of its three panel construction featuring the double-headed eagle motif in the center panel. This style of Nahuala huipils is referred to as “kashlan po’t”. This circa-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three primarily indigo blue striped cotton panels decorated with supplementary brocade in cotton and rayon. The collar and arm holes are trimmed with embroidery. This fine example is in excellent condition. It was collected from Manuela Marroquin of Nahualá. (10-50) $ 110.
