Nahuala ceremonial huipil. W77 x L152 cm opened. This circa-1980 huipil is believed to be ceremonial because of its three panel construction with the double-headed eagle motif dominant in the wider center panel. This style of Nahuala huipil is referred to in Quiche, spoken in Nahuala, as “kashlan po’t”. This circa-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three indigo dyed blue cotton panels decorated with supplementary brocade in cotton and rayon. The head and arm holes are trimmed with velvet. This fine example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Ana Carolina Ajanel of Chichicastenango. (10-48) $ 110. Sold.
