Nahualá huipil. W72 x L138 cm opened. This post-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well matched indigo blue cotton base panels. The panels are joined by a hand embroidered decorative seams and are decorated with supplementary brocade in cotton and rayon featuring rows of “chompepe muerte” or dead turkey motifs. Turkeys are usually eaten at celebrations. It is in very good condition. It was acquired from Ana Carolina Ajanel of Chichicastenango. (10-47) $ 100. Sold.
