Nahuala huipil. W82 x L138 cm opened. This post-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well-balanced indigo dyed blue cotton base panels. The panels are joined by a hand embroidered decorative seams and the surface decorated with supplementary brocade. The supplementary brocade is in cotton and rayon and features rows of "double-headed eagle motifs across the chest and back and plumed serpent motifs across the shoulders. It is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Elena Batz of Patzun at the La Fuente market in Antigua. (10-42) $ 90. Sold. Others similar are available.
