Nahualá tzute (utility cloth).
This post-1980 tzute was hand woven on a back strap loom in one warp striped cotton panel. The blue stripes are dyed with the natural dye, indigo. The panel is
decorated with fantastic animal motifs in supplementary brocade. It has hand knotted fringes on both ends. These Nahualá tzutes are uncommon and are often used
in cofradia society ceremonies. This is fine example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Manuela Marroquin of Nahualá at the La Fuente textile
market in Antigua Guatemala. W 48 x L 82 cm plus fringes. (10-301) $ 60. OBO
