Momostenango daily huipil.
This post-2000 huipil was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in one wide cotton panel,
characteristically red above and green below. The Momostenango style huipil involves the creation of diamond patterns
by the juxtaposition of ikat dyed weft striples, here done with great precision. This technique is unique to Momostenango.
This very fine example is classic in every respect. Quality Momostenango huipils are increasingly hard to find. This
example is in like new condition. It was acquired from Sra. Ema and Carmen Tepeú, mother and daughter, at the La Fuente
textile market in Antigua. W 90 x L 73 cm. (16-85) $ 150. OBO
