Momostenango daily huipil.

This circa-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two white cotton panels joined by a hand embroidered decorative seam. Momostenango style involves the creation of diamond patterns by the juxtaposition of ikat dyed weft threads, a technique unique to Momostenango. “China cinta” ribbon surrounds the head opening. Momostenango huipils are now seldom worn. This one is especially wide and in very good condition. It was acquired from Julio Cesar Ajanel at his tienda in Panajachel. W 94 x L 65 cm. (13-40) $ 80. OBO.
