Momostenango daily huipil. W80 x L150 cm opened. This post-1980 huipil was hand woven in a single wide cotton base panel, probably on a foot treadle loom because of its width. Momostenango huipils are increasingly rare. The style, which involves the creation of diamond patterns by the juxtaposition of ikat dyed weft threads, is unique to Momostenango. The head opening has been modified for easier access. This fine example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Ana Carolina Ajanel of Chichicastenango. See Ana Carolina’s picture in our “Vendors” section. (11-41) $ 100. Sold.
