This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two predominantly red warp striped cotton blend base panels. The neck and arm openings are surrounded by hand embroidered circles of decoration typical of Joyabaj huipils. This huipil is relatively large. The hem is trimmed with embroidery and applique. This huipil is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Tomasa Calbo Mateo of Chichicastenango at the “bomberos” market in Panajachel. W 92 x L 51 cm. (10-33) $ 80.
