Huitan daily huipil.

This post-2000 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two red cotton panels joined by embroidered decorative seams. These panels are decorated by very well matched bands of supplementary brocade featuring plant and bird motifs. The head opening has an embroidered appliqué collar. Traditional textiles in the Huitan style are rare. This is a fine example in excellent condition. From Maria Pol of Chichicastenango at the “bomberos” textile market in Panajachel. W 79 x L 81 cm. (15-270) $ 90. OBO
