This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two cotton blend, warp striped panels. The decoration surrounding the head and arm openings is all hand embroidered. The arm openings are also trimmed with pink crochet. Traditional textiles from Cubulco are rare. This fine example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Tomasa Calbo Mateo of Chichicastenango at the “bomberos” market in Panajachel. W 72 x L 52 cm. (10-65) $70. OBO
