Cruz Blanca ceremonial huipil.
This huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two indigo blue cotton base panels. These panels are
joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The supplementary brocade, some in silk, features bird and plumed serpent motifs. The head
and arm openings are trimmed with velvet. Cruz Blanca huipils are rare. We are unaware of a specific Cruz Blanca ceremonial style and
this one is considered ceremonial because of the use of silk. This uniquely fine example is in very good condition. It was acquired from
a private collection in Guatemala. W 93 x L 62 cm. (18-63) $180. OBO
