Cruz Blanca daily huipil.
This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two wide white cotton base panels. These panels are joined by
“randas”, hand embroidered decorative seams. The supplementary brocade features bird and plumed serpent motifs. The head and arm openings are trimmed with
velvet. Cruz Blanca huipils are influenced by the much larger nearby town of San Juan Sacatepequez, of which it is an “aldea”. Cruz Blanca huipils are rare.
This very fine example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Ana Carolina Ajanel of Chichicastenango. W105 x L 60 cm. (12-284) Was $135.
