San Juan Cotzal daily huipil. W79 X L140 cm opened. This circa-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in 3 white cotton base panels. It is decorated with supplementary brocade featuring bird and geometric designs. The traditional collar design is hand embroidered with four points representing the cardinal directions and, possibly, stylized jaguar faces. The color combination of this huipil is the same as Cotzal ceremonial huipils. Some of the base thread is hand spun. It is in very good condition. It was acquired from Ana Carolina Ajanel of Chichicastenango. (3-16) $ 130. SOLD.
