San Juan Cotzal daily huipil.

From the Dr. Richard P. Mandell collection.

This circa-1970 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three black cotton panels decorated with supplementary brocade featuring bird and geometric designs typical of Cotzal huipils. The center panel is wider and more heavily decorated. The traditional collar design is hand embroidered with four points representing the cardinal directions and, reputedly, stylized jaguar faces. This classic example is in excellent condition. W 85 x L 67 cm. (16-226) $ 210. OBO
