San Juan Cotzal rebozo. This circa-1980 rebozo was hand woven on a back strap loom in two warp-striped cotton base panels. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade featuring geometric motifs on both ends. This unusual example is done in an older style, but is in excellent condition. It is exceptionally large. It has very finely hand knotted fringes on both ends. It was acquired from Sra. Maria Isabel Gonzales of Patzicia at the “bomberos” textile market in Panajachel. W 106 x L 224 plus fringes. (16-127) $ 175. OBO |
