Concepcion Chicarichapa daily huipil.

This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well-balanced black cotton blend base panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade featuring the exuberant flora and fauna typical of Chicarichapa huipils, separated by rows of the plumed serpent motif. The head hole features a hand embroidered collar trimmed with velvet and opened for easier access. Huipils from Chicarichapa are not common. This fine example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Maria Pol of Chichicastenango at the “bomberos” textile market in Panajachel. W 91 x L 71 cm. (15-56) $150. OBO
