Concepcion Chicarichapa daily huipil.

This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well-balanced black cotton base panels joined by elaborate hand embroidered decorative seams. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade featuring the exuberant flora and fauna typical of Chicarichapa huipils. The head hole features a hand embroidered collar trimmed with velvet and opened for easier access. Huipils from Chicarichapa are not common. This exceptional example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Gladys Mendez Bocó at the Mercado des Artesanos in Antigua. W 83 x L 70 cm. (15-55) $160. OBO
