Concepcion Chicarichapa daily huipil.
This circa-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well-balanced maroon cotton blend base panels
joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade featuring the exuberant flora and fauna (in this case, fish)
typical of Chicarichapa huipils. It has a hand-embroidered add-on collar. Huipils from Chicarichapa are not common. This one is in very good condition.
It was acquired from Petronila Mendez Bocó of Santa Maria de Jesus at the Mercado des Artesanos in Antigua Guatemala. W 84 x L 74 cm. (10-31) $80. OBO
