San Juan Comalapa daily huipil. W78 x L136 cm opened. This circa-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two white cotton base panels. It features multiple horizontal bands of decoration in supplementary brocade in geometric and floral/cupid designs. It also has the red stripe across the shoulders characteristic of traditional Comalapa huipils. Comalapa huipils on a cotton base are now uncommon. The arm and head holes are trimmed with velvet. It is in very good condition. It was collected from Juana Escalon of Patzun. (8-129) $ 100. SOLD.
