San Juan Comalapa huipil de boda. (Wedding huipil)

This huipil was hand woven on a back-strap loom in two wide, very well matched, indigo dyed cotton base panels. It is dated as 1964. These panels are decorated with horizontal bands of supplementary brocade featuring floral, plant and geometric motifs, much of it in silk. The head and arm openings are trimmed in velvet. This exceptional huipil is in excellent condition. It was acquired from the collection of Joan Jacobson of Tucson. W 98 x L 55 cm. 21-121. $ 350 or best offer. Sold.
