San Juan Comalapa daily huipil.

This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well-balanced white cotton blend panels. The surface decoration is supplementary weft brocade featuring horizontal bands of floral and geometric motifs. The head and arm openings are trimmed in velvet. The red stripes across the shoulders are the most standard feature of traditional Comalapa huipils. This beautiful example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Petronila Mendez Bocó at her tienda in the Mercado des Artesanos in Antigua. W 81 x L 68 cm. (16-58) Was $180. Now $150 OBO.
