Colotenango tzute. (L154 x W100 cm) Colotenango tzutes are much more uncommon than either their huipils or the cortes. One this large and fine suggests ceremonial use. This tzute was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well matched all cotton red panels punctuated by multicolored warp stripes. The two panels are joined by a multicolored hand embroidered decorative seam. The supplemental weft brocade is in bands of geometric motifs similar to those found in Colotenango skirts. Pieces such as this are rare. This fine tzute is in excellent condition. From the Nim Po’t Collection of Antigua Guatemala. Post 1980. (6-158) $210 *SOLD*
