Colotenango ceremonial huipil. Hand woven on a back strap loom in three
cotton panels. The center panel is wider and more heavily decorated.
It is considered ceremonial because of its uniquely large size. The
surface decoration is brocade. The head hole and arm holes are trimmed
by hand embroidered chain stitch. It is in very good condition. It was
acquired from José Maria Pocop Barreno at “El Guipil” in Panajachel.
110 x 95 cm. (12-108) $ 350.
