Coban gauze huipil.

This post-2000 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three guaze white cotton base panels decorated with white on white brocade lightning motifs. The head and arm openings are surrounded by rows of hand embroidered flowers created using a wrapped needle technique. Because of their lightness, Coban huipils are now worn widely by Maya women. This example was acquired from Sra. Sophia Monroy Tepeú at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. W 104 x L 54 cm. (17-67) $ 120. OBO
