Coban gauze huipil.

This contemporary huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three white gauze cotton panels. These panels are decorated with alternating horizontal rows of open weave and hand embroidery around the head and arm openings in floral patterns. Coban gauze huipils are popular among Guatemalan women throughout the Maya area, particularly for wear in warm weather. This fine example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Sra. Carmen Tepeú at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. W 92 x L 50 cm. (17-25) $ 110. OBO
