Coban gauze huipil.

This contemporary huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three white gauze cotton panels. These panels are decorated with alternating horizontal rows of chevrons in white supplementary brocade and open weave. Unembroidered white-on-white Coban style huipils are considered chic and often worn with necklaces. Coban gauze huipils are popular among Guatemalan women throughout the Maya area, particularly for wear in warm weather. This fine example is in like new condition. It was acquired from Sra. Carmen Tepeú at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. W 92 x L 50 cm. (17-23) $ 95. OBO
