Coban daily huipil.

This circa-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three gauze cotton panels. The decoration of these panels is entirely within the weave, not brocade or embroidery on a base material. Coban style huipils are popular among Guatemalan Maya women throughout the Maya area. This very fine and unusual example is in excellent condition. It is uniquely wide. It was acquired from the collection of Anya Hazelwood who purchased it during the 1980’s. W 109 x L 47 cm. (16-06) $ 100. OBO
