Coban daily huipil. This classic post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three black cotton base panels. These panels are densely covered with rows of supplementary brocade in several different colors. Typical Coban motifs include deer, universal diamonds, and people. Coban huipils are popular with women throughout the Maya area. This fine example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Petronila Mendez Bocó at the Mercado des Artesanos in Antigua.
