Coban daily huipil.

This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three black cotton base panels. These panels are decorated with supplementary brocade in highly contrasting colors and featuring bird, universal diamond and plant motifs. It also features undulating vertical serpent designs in black and white. Coban style huipils are popular among Guatemalan Maya women throughout the Maya area. This beautiful example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Maria Sacajan Perez of San Antonio Palopo at the La Fuente market in Antigua Guatemala. W 98 x L 100 cm opened. (14-157) $ 90.
