Coban daily huipil. W100 x L102 cm opened. This post-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three orange cotton base panels. The center panel is wider and more heavily decorated. The panels are decorated with supplementary brocade in deer and universal diamonds motifs. Coban style huipils are now worn widely by Guatemalan Maya women throughout the Maya area. This lovely example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Juana Escalon of Patzun at the La Fuente market in Antigua. (10-21) $ 80. Sold.
