Chuarrancho ceremonial huipil.
W118 x L138 cm opened. This circa-1980 ceremonial huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two very well matched cotton panels. They have a white ground
fabric and extensive supplementary brocade, predominantly in purple. The principal motif in the brocade is of the sacred cieba trees. The traditional Chuarrancho
collar is hand embroidered. Chuarrancho huipils are heavily influenced by those of nearby San Pedro Sacatepéquez (G). This fine huipil was acquired from the
Centro de Textiles Tradicionales Nim Po’t in Antigua Guatemala. (6-233) $ 300. SOLD.
