Chuarrancho vintage wedding / ceremonial huipil.

This circa-1980 wedding huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three white cotton panels that are joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. It is a copy of a Chuarrancho ceremonial huipil from the 1920’s, but it is now itself a vintage item. The center panel is more heavily decorated with supplementary brocade depicting zoomorphic, double-headed eagle and portal motifs. Most of the brocade is in silk, but much of it has worn due to frequent use. This unique item is in good condition. It was acquired from the collection of Antigua archaeologist and jade expert, Mary Lou Ridinger. www.jademaya.com W 124 x L 75 cm. (20-48) $ 375 or best offer.
