Chuarrancho ceremonial huipil.

This huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two white cotton panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. These very well matched panels are decorated with extensive supplementary brocade featuring geometric and zoomorphic motifs, with bands of universal diamonds across the shoulders. The traditional Chuarrancho collar is hand embroidered. Chuarrancho huipils are heavily influenced by those of nearby San Pedro Sacatepéquez (G). This beautiful example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from a private collection in Guatemala. W 110 x L 64 cm. (18-52) $225 OBO
