Churrancho daily huipil.
This circa-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two very well matched white
cotton panels with extensive supplementary brocade, predominantly in purple, and featuring paired birds and geometric
motifs. The traditional Chuarrancho collar is hand embroidered. Chuarrancho huipils are heavily influenced by those of
nearby San Pedro Sacatepéquez (G).
This example was acquired from the collection of an ex-US diplomat in Guatemala. W 90 x L 62 cm. (16-25) $ 100. OBO
