Churrancho ceremonial huipil.

This pre-1980 ceremonial huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well-matched cotton panels. The white ground fabric is decorated with extensive supplementary brocade, predominantly in purple, featuring zoomorphic and universal diamond motifs. The traditional Chuarrancho collar is hand embroidered. Chuarrancho huipils are heavily influenced by those of nearby San Pedro Sacatepéquez (G). This fine example was acquired from the collection of an ex-US diplomat in Guatemala. W 89 x L 60 cm. (16-24) $ 140. OBO
