Chichicastenango vintage ceremonial huipil. W86 x L125 cm opened. This fine circa-1960 ceremonial huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in 3 hand-spun white cotton base panels joined by hand embroidered multi-colored decorative seams. The center panel is wider and more extensively decorated than the side panels. The central decorative motif is floral. Two colors of the brocade and the embroidered seams are done in silk. The sunburst collar is unique to Chichicastenango huipils and was hand embroidered with chain stitching in cotton and silk. This huipil is in very good condition.
