Chichicastenango daily huipil.
(W89 x L144 cm) This fine post-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in 3 brown cotton base panels joined by hand embroidered multi-colored decorative seams. The center panel is wider (35 cm) and more extensively decorated than the side panels (27 cm). The central decorative motif on all panels is of very highly abstract double headed eagles. The typical sunburst collar was embroidered chain stitching in cotton over velvet and has especially long points. This fine huipil is in excellent condition.
