Chichicastenango vintage daily huipil. W100 x L150 cm opened. This fine 1950’s huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in 3 hand-spun beige cotton base panels. The center panel is wider and more extensively decorated than the side panels. The brocade features the plumed serpent and universal diamonds motifs. The two "lunas" on the shoulders are original. The sunburst collar is unique to Chichicastenango huipils and was hand embroidered with chain stitching in cotton and silk. This huipil is in very good condition given its age. It was acquired from Maria Huarcus Aigua of Chichicastenango. (5-229) $200. Sold.
