Chichicastenango ceremonial corte. W75 x L325 cm opened. This circa-1980 ceremonial corte was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in 2 cotton base panels joined by wide, hand embroidered, multi-colored decorative seams, primarily in silk. The use of silk usually indicates that it was used in cofradia society ceremonies. It features extensive ikat dye patterns. Much of the base is dyed with indigo. This fine corte is in very good condition. Collected from Petronila Mendez Boco of Santa Maria de Jesus. (3-113) $ 130. SOLD.
