Santo Tomás Chichicastenango daily huipil.

This pre-2000 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three white cotton panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. These panels are decorated with supplementary brocade in wool. The center panel is wider and more extensively decorated. The central decorative motif is a highly abstract double-headed eagle. The sunburst collar is hand embroidered in silk over velvet and unique to Chichicastenango huipils. This unique huipil is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Sra. Aquamarina Mateo of Panajachel. W 84 x L 65 cm. (21-88) $ 180 or best offer.
