Santo Tomás Chichicastenango ceremonial huipil.

This beautiful post-2000 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three brown cotton base panels. These panels are decorated with supplementary brocade, much of it in silk, in magenta, maroon and purple. The center panel is wider and more extensively decorated. The central decorative motif is the plumed serpent. The traditional sunburst collar is hand embroidered in silk over velvet and unique to Chichicastenango huipils. This very high quality huipil is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Sra. Ana Carolina Ajanel of Chichicastenango. W 86 x L 70 cm. (21-64) $ 280 or best offer.
