Santo Tomás Chichicastenango vintage ceremonial huipil.

This classic circa-1960 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three white cotton panels composed of hand spun base thread and joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. These panels are decorated with supplementary brocade in silk and cotton featuring the plumed serpent motif. It features the two “lunas”. The center panel is wider and more extensively decorated. The sunburst collar is hand embroidered in cotton and silk over velvet and is unique to Chichicastenango huipils. It is in excellent condition. It was acquired from an important private collection in Antigua Guatemala. W 92 x L 76 cm. (19-23) $ 450. OBO
