Santo Tomás Chichicastenango ceremonial corte (wrap skirt).

This circa-1980 corte was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in two matching weft striped cotton panels joined by thick hand embroidered decorative seams. The use of silk in these seams indicates that this corte was likely used ceremonially. It also features ikat dye patterns in indigo. This example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from an important private collection in Antigua Guatemala. The top photograph shows only half of the material available. W 292 x L 83 cm. (19-217) $ 120 or best offer.
