Chichicastenango ceremonial (cofradía) huipil.

This circa-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back-strap loom in 3 white cotton panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The supplementary brocade decoration is all in silk and features abstract double-headed eagle motifs. The hand embroidered sunburst collar is unique to Chichicastenango huipils. This huipil is in a specific style that is used only at cofradia society events. It is in very good condition. Acquired from a private collection in Guatemala. W 81 x L 64 cm. (18-34) $400. OBO
