Santo Tomás Chichicastenango ceremonial corte (wrap skirt).

This corte was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in two matching weft striped cotton panels attached by thick hand embroidered decorative seams. The use of silk in these seams indicates that this corte was likely used ceremonially. It also features ikat dye patterns in indigo. This example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Sra. Carmen Tepeú at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua Guatemala. The top photograph shows only half of the material available. W 80 x L 240 cm. (18-109) $80. OBO
