Santo Tomás Chichicastenango vintage men’s ceremonial faja (belt).

This circa-1960 faja was hand woven on a back strap loom in one red, warp striped cotton panel. Each end has an area of supplementary brocade featuring plant and floral motifs and hand knotted fringes made of the warp thread endings. This faja is an integral part of the men’s cofradia costume. This fine example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Sra. Petronila Mendez Boco at her tienda in the Mercado des Artesanos in Antigua. W 23 x L 208 cm plus fringes. (17-21) $ 110. OBO
