Santo Tomás Chichicastenango men’s ceremonial faja (belt).

This pre-1980 faja was hand woven on a back strap loom in one red cotton panel. Each end has an area of supplementary brocade featuring geometric motifs and hand knotted fringes made of the warp thread endings. Much of the brocade is in silk. This faja is an integral part of the men’s cofradia costume. This exceptional example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Milagro Chavez at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. W 33 x L 240 cm plus fringes. (15-249) Was $ 260. Now $210 OBO.
